An update from Rhode Island Pharmacists Association President, Kenny Correia, PharmD, BCACP

Monthly Dose - July 2019

News

RIPA's 2019-20 year starts, I would like to take a moment introduce everyone to the 2019-20 council of administration. The officers and council members will be meeting soon to develop a strategic plan for the association's work over the next year.  We welcome feedback and involvement from all association members in this process. We also welcome and invite you to get involved on our committees / teams. As you know, RIPA is a volunteer based organization and in order to be effective we need as many people part of the process as possible.

No matter your work or home schedule, we have opportunities for you to get involved during the 2019-20 year! We would appreciate your feedback in areas we are serving you well and areas we can serve you better.

National Legislative Update -

Join Us “Firing on all Cylinders” in the Name of DIR Relief: Letters and Calls Needed

Our national partners continue to work on DIR reform. Without your help today, the Senate Finance Committee could omit DIR relief in its draft drug-pricing package when it meets this week. NACDS RxIMPACT is calling on YOU to engage in a powerful two-step call to action to tell the U.S. Senate — and U.S. House of Representatives — about the DIRE need for DIR reform!

NACDS RxIMPACT is asking members of the pharmacy community to join us in firing on all cylinders to promote DIR fee reform. Help us tell the U.S. Congress it must take immediate steps to support and enact the Phair Pricing Act (S.640/H.R.1034) bill provisions in any drug-pricing packages to reform DIR fees greatly contributing to higher out of pocket Medicare costs for seniors and pharmacy closures that impact patient access.

Take action now:

Step 1: Call into the toll-free number 866-DIR-RE4M. When calling the phone line, advocates will hear a 2-minute message of talking points at which point they can type in their zip code and be patched to their Senate target. We TRULY need the help of the Rhode Island Pharmacists Association membership as we need to inspire as many calls as possible to Senator Whitehouse THIS WEEK.

Step 2: visit http://www.capwiz.com/nacds/issues/alert/?alertid=80663626&type=CO to create and send a letter.

Have something that you would like to share / include
in the next monthly dose? Email it to info@ripharmacists.org
